Collar Size
Collar size: The foundation of comfort. A collar that is too tight restricts breathing and looks constricted, while one that is too loose disrupts the symmetry of your face. Correct measurement ensures the ideal fit – with or without a tie.
- Position: Place the tape measure below the Adam's apple at the height where the collar band will sit.
- Method: Guide the tape exactly around the neck without pressing into the skin.
- Important: Maintain a natural head posture and look straight ahead.
Stand relaxed and upright. Place the tape measure at the back of your neck and guide it forward to the larynx. The ideal measuring point is just below the Adam's apple, where the shirt collar will later close. Ensure that the tape measure does not slip down at the back but runs horizontally. Measure exactly on the skin.
Important Note:
This guide is for determining your individual anatomical measurements (body measurements). These values are not identical to the measurements of a finished shirt, as a tailor adds a comfort allowance depending on the desired fit (e.g., Slim Fit or Comfort Fit).
Preparation:
Ideally, measure in light underwear or on bare skin. Stand relaxed and upright. A second person for support significantly increases accuracy.
