Measure shirt hip width

Hip Width

  • Preparation: Button up shirt, lay flat.
  • Path: Horizontal measurement at the widest part of the lower shirt body.

Measure about 10–15 cm below the waist, just before the hem begins or the curve starts. Measure from the left to the right outer edge of the side seam. This is important so that the shirt does not span at the lowest button position or slide up when sitting.

Important Note:

The following instructions are exclusively for measuring an existing shirt that fits you well (finished measurements). These values are not identical to your body measurements, as a shirt requires a comfort allowance.

Your Design Freedom:

When ordering a new shirt, you can modify the values. Do you want a tighter silhouette? Reduce the waist width by 1–2 cm. Do you need room for a wristwatch? Increase the corresponding cuff width (usually left).
