Measure short arm length

Short Arm Length

Arm length: Perfection down to the details. Whether long or short sleeve – arm length determines the aesthetic. A perfectly measured arm prevents fabric bunching or sleeves that look too short.

  • Short Sleeve: From the shoulder point to the middle of the upper arm.
  • Goal: Determine the ideal endpoint for short-sleeve shirts.
  • Important: Measure both arms individually.

Place the tape measure at the shoulder point. Guide it along the outside of the arm to about halfway to the elbow or to the desired length on the upper arm.

Notes & Tips: For a business short-sleeve shirt, a slightly longer length is recommended, while a shorter length looks more modern for casual shirts. Be sure to measure both arms, as anatomical length differences are completely normal.

Important Note:

This guide is for determining your individual anatomical measurements (body measurements). These values are not identical to the measurements of a finished shirt, as a tailor adds a comfort allowance depending on the desired fit (e.g., Slim Fit or Comfort Fit).

Preparation:

Ideally, measure in light underwear or on bare skin. Stand relaxed and upright. A second person for support significantly increases accuracy.
